The 212 İstanbul Project, which is planned to be opened in August 2009 with a total investment around 300 million US Dollars, is the most prestigious project along the route to the Atatürk Airport, on the Basın Ekspres road which has assumed the role of the city’s new boulevard.
The shopping centre built within the scope of the project is built on 230,000 m2 of construction area, offers a 70,000 m2 of GLA and represents a capacity to accommodate 40,000 visitors per day. Carrefour, Praktiker and MediaMarkt are among the largest brands to accommodate the shopping centre that offers 180 shops in total. The top level of the centre is reserved for a cinema complex comprising 8 theatre halls and a food court. The site delivery is presently made to Praktiker, Carrefour and MediaMarkt and the decoration works are going on.
While the shell and façade works of the project have already been completed, the electro-mechanical, finishing and interior decoration works are in progress.
The architectural design of the project, which distinguishes itself from its competitors in the region, is prepared by the German ASP Arkitekten and the Turkish DB Architecture, who were chosen as a result of a competition organised in 2006. The engineering works of the project is undertaken by Balkar, Cedetaş, Birikim, SNS, Enar and Etik Mühendislik, all of which are leaders in their fields. While the main contractor of the project is the successful constructor of the underground railways in İstanbul, İzmir, Kayseri, and Dubai, the German Aareal Bank finances the project.
